McClatchy Invests in Moonlighting
Moonlighting, an on online platform to connect people with tasks through a mobile app, received a strategic investment from The McClatchy Company, publisher of the Miami Herald, The Kansas City Star, The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee and other newspapers.
The amount of this investment was not disclosed. However, privately held Moonlighting counts more than 20 investors and has raised $1.9 million so far.
McClatchy’s investment will help support Moonlighting’s product expansion and market development as well as expand its current presence in 1,300 communities to more than 2,000 communities nationwide.
“Moonlighting’s mission is to democratize the sharing economy and allow everyone, everywhere to generate job opportunities on their own terms,” said Moonlighting founder and CEO Jeff Tennery. “With McClatchy’s financial and strategic marketing support, we can accelerate our message to millions of eager workers who need an open, on-demand solution to support their families and generate income.”
